Managing Director Ubbo de Witt: "Right now we are building onshore wind projects with almost 50 % higher yields that generate electricity 14 % more cheaply than a coastal location in the year 2000. Planning for further wind farms between 2013 and 2015 took several years, and the government should continue to support this success story instead of undermining it! The additional construction of 2,000 MW per year on average would meet the EU-27's targets in Germany." But, as de Witt pointed out, only 2 % of these targets are met by current offshore expansion. "The bottleneck is still grid connection - slow progress here worries investors."
Minister Olaf Lies shares this criticism: "Better steering of both the expansion and the essential planning of the grid connection must be put in place. We face huge problems here - especially considering the chaos created by the federal government in implementing the energy transition. The delays here speak volumes. This uncertain situation frightens off many potential investors. We need planning security for new investment in wind energy, a major industry of the future."
