Early fault detection and failure prevention: modern condition monitoring of wind turbines requires excellent qualification and evaluation by the experts who provide remote service.
Lars Gronemeier and Björn Buchhorn have been responsible in our group for many years for vibration analysis as part of condition monitoring and diagnostics of wind turbines.
Now, they have additionally proved their solid expertise and qualification according to the requirements of the DIN ISO 18436 standard.
Part 2 of the certification: Vibration Condition Monitoring and Diagnostics (ISO 18436-2:2014) is about ensuring that both the organisation and the activities of its personnel can meet the requirements. With this certification, our two experts have verified under international standards the high level of their qualification, their corresponding training, work experience and personal expertise.
Proactive troubleshooting focuses firstly on reducing downtimes in ongoing operations for the operating company in close cooperation with the equipment manufacturer as well as the service and maintenance team. It also delivers important information and time for further troubleshooting because damaged bearings are replaced at an early stage. That cuts maintenance costs and improves quality management. What's more, the measurements supply key information needed for pursuing possible warranty claims against the manufacturer or its component supplier to secure restitution claims and any warranty obstacles.
"More and more large operating companies in the onshore and offshore sectors are using our know-how in CMS remote service. They appreciate that it's available quickly and that we've built it up over many years. The successful certification of our two experts provides even more security for our customers, so our long-term commitment in this sector pays off for all of us" says Managing Director Ubbo de Witt.
